In the interplay of the speech and the camera movement in long takes and in the character constellation an image of somber suspense is staged, the immediate expression of which is the tense mood in the crew’s quarters. Comparable to the scene in EMU 01, the change of mood takes place in the same space as, on the one hand, the smooth flow of the question-answer repartee and, on the other hand, the clear identification within the frame of the speaking voices.

The camera movement, in long takes, showing the choreography of the platoon leader, who walks slowly between the visual obstacles of the backs of the soldiers’ bodies in the narrowed space between the soldiers, is followed by the gazes of the calm soldiers. The pauses he chooses at regular intervals as he makes his way down the corridor make concentration on him possible, supported by the gaze of the soldiers (and the looks he returns) and the model question-answer quiz of the soldiers. His rhetoric works here as a catalyst of collective unit-building, part of the group’s readiness for battle.
