In this unit, the ways the interviews are staged (> EMU 1) and the introduction of the Colonel (> EMU 2) is combined and brought into harmony.

After a simple shot/reverse shot combination in a regular rhythm, camera pans correlate with the Colonel’s movements. This change occurs in the temporal middle of the dialogue at a point when clarification is necessary. Under the wings of the leadership figure, a harmonious union is formed of parting from civilian life on the one hand and, on the other hand, integrating the character into military necessities and values – “It’s the service that counts.”

A bugle call signals the transition from the tranquil ending of the unit to the figuration of the will to fight that follows.
