In the interplay of shot composition, sound design and camera an image of loneliness and abandonment is developed.

The editing connects a series of tableaus that share the motif of loneliness and abandonment, conveyed by the shot composition. The unit opens  with a long shot of the empty desert, footprints initiate the motif of abandonment. A pan brings a deserted holster into the frame. In an almost evenly metered series of shots, three tableaus with similar motifs follow: a deserted rifle, a deserted water bottle; and finally a prolonged long shot in which Waco alone in the back of the frame stands out against the desert sand that fills the screen.

The music is closely connected to the visual phases. The first image of the empty desert before the pan to the holster is underscored by a repeated fragment of a melody of signals. The metered series of tableaus is connected by parallel developments in the melody, until it fades like an echo at the end of the final, prolonged long shot.
